Here in Ottawa have new waste management system regulations.

While there will be

amount of green bin, plastic and cardboard allowed. Now, we will be limited in the amount of trash we put out every 2 weeks. No matter the size of household. So our family of 6 plus pets is limited to the same amount our elderly neighbor couple.

Great, so I go looking for a trash can the closest to the max item amount. Big mistake. I don’t know who pulled that shit out of their ass, they should not be in the position to make these rules. Every store I go to their largest garbage bin are to big and way over our allotment. Their is also a bunch of sizes that are much less then the container size regulations. Why would we not look at what is already in production and readily available size of garbage bin, then base the limits on those numbers. No, no, there are no great options, we have the largest size we could find now and it fits 2 regular black garbage bags.

The good of it is we will now be using a green big in every room for tissues and such as well as the garbage cans we already have. While we do try to do our best, it’s really just f#$&ing hard. While I am green and really try to do our part, I also feel these things aren’t going to have and impact enough solve our climate issues. It will create new ones no doubt.

Like, people are going to put more non recyclable items into their recycling bins rather than the trash.

Also parents have enough on their plate, the cost of food with 2 teens, and two close behind them, is horrible. we are being squeezed to our breaking points and then expect to put the consumer and citizens rather then the companies creating all that garbage.

Don’t get me wrong we do what we can, because it is all we can do.

I can’t help but feel this whole thing is a great metaphor for the current state of our society.

Now I’m off to shop for garbage cans again …..
