This is a visual story about dealing with you demons. Healing from trauma and shame, and taking control back from toxic coping skills.
I am often asked how to do shadow work. It all depends on what you are healing from and how you get to know your shadow self. Tools like art therapy, personal grounding, or journaling, and yes talking to a mirror.
It’s the collection of events of your life when you know you were being toxic, inflammatory, abusive, making poor choices or shameful events. Your shadow self is a composite of stories you avoid, events that you lie about, and anything else you feel are personal secrets. Acknowledging this side of yourself with acceptance and accountability is the only way forward.
People can be 2 things.
Someone could be a great athlete and abusive. Or someone can be a cherished community member and do violent things. People can be smart, yet still make poor choices.
People can change
This is a huge topic. Can people change? What do you think? I often hear that people don’t change. Which is really just half true. People do change, but they need to make changes within themselves. The need to acknowledge the traits that aren’t serving them and actively replace them.
